Navasota, Texas
We are near Washington-on-the-Brazos. 71 miles today, 1,830 miles down. Gosh it is beautiful. The blue bonnets and paintbrushes and evening primroses blend together to make beautiful hillsides everywhere. There has been a drought here - until this Spring; It certainly is breathtaking.
Washington-on-the-Brazos is where the Republic of Texas was founded in 1836 with the defeat of Santa Anna. There is a very nice museum here.
The supper discussion turned to the serious side of “traffic.” Drinking and driving is not a good plan. There was quite a lively discussion about hugging the white line or “taking the lane.” Each side has its merits. The bottom line - a bicycle must always give way to car.
Tomorrow is a rest day. I know we just had one, but no one is complaining.

I check your site everyday. I don't always leave a comment. I love reading about your adventures. I hope someday to do something like that. Keep pedaling!!

Hi Retta,
I haven't been on line in over a week. Sounds like you've had some cold weather through my old home in the Hill Country. I worked in San Marcos and we had a cabin up in the Blanco area. I can't believe you ran into snow in April.
Hang in there.
